With this new integration, Easy WMS manages order picking at workstations operated by collaborative robots (cobots). In today’s logistics environment — where efficiency and flexibility are paramount — cobots offer a groundbreaking solution. Cobots are next-generation robotic arms that fully automate the order picking process. Designed to share workspace safely with both people and machines, these robots serve as strategic allies in boosting productivity. They minimise errors while maximising precision and consistency in task execution.
Seamless integration within the Easy WMS ecosystem
The module for integrating these robotic arms is designed specifically for automated warehouses. To fully leverage the application, the cobot is configured within the warehouse layout using the Easy S tool. The items and conversions the machine can handle are also defined during setup.
The cobot connects directly to Easy WMS to operate autonomously and efficiently. The result is a smooth, repeatable and fully traceable workflow — ideal for operations where precision and speed are critical.
Easy WMS manages the operational logic, assigns tasks to the cobot and updates order and process statuses in real time. The physical layout of each workstation equipped with a cobot is defined, and the machine’s peripherals (grippers, suction cups, etc.) are configured accordingly.
Through the integration between the cobot and Easy WMS, the software manages the following:
- Coordination between pick stations with and without cobots within the same warehouse.
- Selection of the optimal pick station based on item characteristics:
- A cobot station is selected only if the item can be handled by the robot.
- A cobot is selected only if its arm is equipped with the appropriate tools (e.g., suction cups) for handling the item.
- Confirmation by the cobot of the picking requests received by Easy WMS.
- Cobot status visualisation.
- Automatic response to incidents reported by the cobot, with the option for manual intervention if needed.
